A SHARP EXCHANGE. | ' (By Telcgraph.—fipccia 1 Correspondent) Auckland, tfCurcary 21. A short interlude occurred between Judge Edwards and Mr. J. R. .Lundon 1 at the Supremo Court tfl-day. Mr. Lundou was about five minutes late in arriving to, take up a case, and the Court ivas therefore delayed, his Honbur remarking that such a state of affairs was insufferable. i It was explained by Mr. Lundon subsequently that ho hod been endeavouring to find a witness for tho defence all tho morning, and had only arrived back from Newmarket just prior to coining to tho Court. Ho hoped his Honour would i accept tho apology, while ho asked that a subpoena might; be issued by the Courli to the witness in question. . . , ,'j .• His Honour: Do you think this a propell application to make at this latefitagoP Mr. Lundon: Your Honour, it would only tako twenty minutfes, to serve it. Subsequently the witness wanted by Mr, Lundon appeared, but not- before there had besn another passage of arms between Judgo and counsel concerning the letter's coligh, which the Judge declared must cease.
