ALLEGED UNEMPLOYED IN QUEENSLAND.
o ' ■ A cablegram recently appeared .in our columns which stated that a deputation of unemployed numbering 60 had secured tents,- rations,, and conveyance 'a the wofks, from the Queensland Commissi jner of Railways. In the latest filo of the "Courier," Brisbano, there is a report of tho deputation to Mr. Charles Evans, Commissioner of Railways. It appears that, though there wero 60 men looking for work, . the Commissioner actually wanted 100, and his* difficulty was not to find employment, but to find men to take up employment. Somo of the deputation had ■ been at work on the railway line elsewhere, and the' Commissioner oould not' understand how it was : possiblp that men like those present >'ould bo out of work. (The supplying of tfcnls and conveyance to the works was an unusual step which was conceded by the Commissioner in bis desire that the men should get to the placo of work and begin as quickly as • possible. Before the tleputation withdrew ho asked them to try and make their number up to 100 before leaving next morning. .
