COMPETITIONS SOCIETY.
JUDGES APPOINTED. At a meeting, of . tho New Zealand Competitions Society, held last evening, replies were received from Messrs. C. N. Baeyertz and H.. Gregeon respecting a proposition, which "had been mado them to act as judges at the next Competitions in. Wellington. Mr. Grogson replied accepting tho_ foe of ,£SO to judge instruniental sections, and expressing his willingness to work in with Mr. Baeyertz respecting the judging of tho vocal sections. Mr. Baeyertz, to whom an offer of .£SO had boen made to judge tho elocutionary sections, roplied that ho was still prepared to judge both tho olocution and..vocal sections for .£75, if the competitions were financially succcssful, and nothing if the reverse was tho coso. Ho also stated that the work would not bo too much for him to get through in tho time. Ilis proposal was to judge tho vocal music (with tho exception of the restricted classes) anil to act jointly witl'i Mr. Greg son in judging tho choirs. Considerable opposition was shown to tho nccoptanco of the offer mado by Mr. Baeyertz, anil a proposal was mado to advertise in tho four centres for applications for tho position of judges. This, however, was not accepted, and after a lively discussion it was moved that Messrs. Baeyertz and Grngson's offers bo accopted, which was carried by fivo voto6 to three.
