Tho United Fir'o Brigades Association's Conference concluded to-day when tho special committees' reports on medal decorations, whistle signals,- gold stars, and tho benevolent''fund' wero discussed, and the remainder of tho remits dealt with. The president presented gold stars (25 years'service) to the following: Foreman Eggeling (Hokitika), Fireman' M'Grogor (Hokitikn), Fireman C. E. F. Duinoulin (Eangiora), Fireman A. J. Miller (Eangiora), Secretary L. Anderson (Hastings), Fireman A. Ariiiit (lioslyn), Fireman J. Holland (Timaru), Firchian E. Townscnd (Wnnganui), Fircmnn-W. Blagdon (South Duncdin), Fireman T. Pickard (Southbrook). • - ■' Tho election of the' officers resulted as follows:—President. Superintendent Sprig* gens (Wanganui); vice-presidents',Cantam Campbell and: Vice-President Suliribndj treasurer, Secretary Scsntlobury; auditor, Mr. P. K. Eraser. '. The delegates wero to-day entertained at a citizens' luncheon. [ . Tho Accident Assurance Socioty held its 21st annual meeting, President Bellringer (New Plymouth) in tho chair. Tho •annual report stated that though claims had been heavy tho. funds had increased and thero was now a satisfactory balance. Ninety-five brigades;were.affiliated with a membership of 1762. Tho revenue last year was .£320 155., an increase of jC47.25, sd. Tho total payments wero £193. The society's accumulated funds total £1850 IDs.. 9d.
