Mrs. Parry, a widow, is suing tho Insurance CsmmLssioners for .£IOO, alleging that negligence to provide sanatorium treatment caused her husband's death. Medical evidence showed that deceased had a chance of recovery under suitablo treatment. V J>lso DAMAGES AWARDED. ■■■• (Rec. February 18, 11.20 p.m.) '' London, February 18. A verdict was given for the Insurance Commissioners, on the ground that death was not due' to negligence. Despite this fact'tho jury awarded the widow |; £l5O. The Insurance Act provides that persons insured may b» treated in sanatoria or otherwise if suffering , from tuberculosis br such other, diseases as tho Local Government Board may think it desirable'to treat. This benefit may ba extended' to the dependents of insured persons. \ Sanatorium'benefit is alrcacV in operation for,the treatment of tuberculosis. Doctors are allowed fid. (included in the 7s. minimum) per. insured person for domiciliary treatment of patients under tins head. Patients in sanatoria are supported for any'necessary period at.the expense.of tiie Insurance Committee, the usual rate being 355. psr week. Insurance Committees are empowered to treaj; members of the insured person's family also. A State igrant of .£1,500,000 has been voted ..for building sanatoria where needed.
