The imposition of tho censorship prevents news leaking out. A raking fire was exchanged between tho opposing forces. MR. TAFT ASSURES MADERO. y Washington, February 17. , The Senate opposes any intervention in Mexican affairs. President Taft has assured President Madoro that the United States military and naval measures are merely natural precautions for the safety of Americans. AMERICAN TROOPS UNDER ORDERS. (Rec. February 18, 9.15 p.m.) ' Washington, February 18. Two thousand troops hive been ordered to Cuba, whore they will be held in readiness to embark for Mexico should tho situation demand their presence. MADERO'S POSITION IMPROVING. (Rec. February 18, 9.15 p.m.) Washington, February 18. Private advices indicate that Presidc-nt Madero is likely to overcome Diaz, and get control of tho situation shortly.
