Mr./J. Cany the ' South Australian veteran politician, died on February.9 at his. residence, Prospect, South Australia. Deceased, who was m his BHh year, played a prominent part in all the affairs of the State between 80 and 40 years ago, and though he had long since rotired from public life, ho always took a keen interest in public matters. Born at Oonisbrough, Yorkshire, he left for Melbourne in the ship Merchant Prince in 1859. The samoyea'r he went to Adelaide.
