Ed with; local bodies in tho Old Country, and a provisional committee was-set up to,draft,rules and inako all preliminary arrangements for .tho establishment in ,Wellington.of such a body. This committeo reported to a general mooting-pre-sided-.over by tho Mayor on Monday Evening. - .His Worship complimented the provisional committee: on tho work it liad . done, and.the staff on tho initiative it had ■;- 6hown in establishing an ' association on V the (lines of- thoso which.flourished in the Old Country.": ' -', ' The' Mayor '«t«ted' that it could not'be denied that the newly-formed association would prove * strong 00-dperative'force to the City Council in many ways, and make for incKasxl efficiency all round. Mr. J. /\V; Callnghan, chairman of tho piovisional committee, submitted the report of his committee. . "• '
Mr. M'Gillivray moved the report be adopted. He said'ho desired -to express his .appreciation of tho work done by tho prj/isibnal committee. Mr. Macfarlano .seconded the motion, which.was carried amidst applause. Tho following . were elected as officebearers for 1913:-President, the Mayor; vice-presidents, Hon T. W. Ilislop, Mr. T M. Wilford, M.P.. Dr. A, K. Newman, M.P., Messrs. J. G. W. Aitken, 11. Baillie, D. Parnell, G. E. James, R. O. Petersen, —. Kerslake, and P. M'Cbll; executivo committee, Messrs. J. W. Calla?han, R. A.
