Amongst the cases sot down for hearing at the criminal sessions of the Supremo Court was the charge ngainst Kathleen Somerville Ryan, arising out of the shooting sensation'in W. J. Col-well's dental rooms in Smeeton'a buildings. The Grand Jury had before ifj.lhe question of whether or not it should return a true bill against the girl Ryan. The Grand Jury had disposed of most of the charges by the afternoon, and at five p.m. the foreman announced that 'it wanted his Honour's advice in connection with the case. < The foreman said that tho jury was very much divided on the point of whether the charge was attempted murder or only an attempt to do grievous hodily harm. \ His Honour pointed out that the charge was not attempted murder at all. Tho words "attempted murder" appeared on tho outside of tho indictment, but' that was nothing to do with the real oharge. The charge was really attempted grievous bodily harm. . The foreman: That puts a different complexion on the matter, your Honour. The Grand Jury then retired again to further consider the matter. When the jury camo back an hour later tho foreman announced that they had found a true bill on "the third count, that of discharging a firearm,

It was then pointed out by the Registrar that there were only two counts, one of attempted grievous bodily harm, the other of discharging a firearm. ■;' The jury then went back again to further consider what should be done in the case.' Fifteen minutes later the foreman 6aid that tho jury were now agreed upon a no bill on all of the counts. ;',' The girl Ryan was brought before the Court.
