The following is tho wording of the illuminated address • recently presented to Mr. Hamilton by the taxi-owners of Wellington. ■ The wording is self-explanatory. J. he spokesman for the taxi-ownel's was Mr. l'ernandez, who, on behalf of the taxi-owners,- present and absent, personally thanked Mr. Hamilton for tho .ivny he'had looked after them during tho petrol shortage.- While thanking them for their very kind words, and for tho handsome presentation, Mr. Hamilton pointed out that he .had only done his duty, both to tho taxi-cab-owners and to the Vacuum Oil Company Proprietary, Ltd. Tho address reads:—To Mr. Hugh Hamilton. Sir,—ln recognition Of the manner in Which 1 tho taxi-owners of Wellington have been supplied with petroleum spirits io enable them t6 keep running their cdra during tho period of tho late shortage in local supplies of Pratt's benzine and motor spirits, and also tho able manner and precautions displayed in preventing speculators manipulating, availltblo short supplies during 3912, whereby car-owners were enabled to keep their taxi-cabs running in normal way, we, tho undersigned taxi-owners of Wellington,, desire to express our hearty appreciation' of the valuable and capable judgment displayed by you in your capacity as New Zealand manager of the Vacuum Oil Company Proprietary, Ltd."
