CITY COUNCIL STAFF PICNIC.

The annual picmo of tho corporation stait was hold yesterday at Day's Bay, undor tho most favourable circumstances, tho weather being all that could bo desired, with the exception of a slight shower about 3 o'clock, which in no way interfered with the enjoyment, as the ladies events were held on the wide verandah while the shower lasted. About 250 of the staff, together with their friends, had a most enjoyable day, and all seemed to enter very fully into the spirit of the oufcinp. The Mayor (Jlr. D. MLaren) helped the energetic committee very materially to run off the various events. The following is a list of the winners:—
