Grey 'then forged ahead and (iuished two yards ahead ot Mncnab. The scratch men were competing for the Aston "Memorinl Cup (championship). Mncnab at present leads in points. CARNIVAL AT HASTINGS. (Dy Telegraph..—Special CorrcepunucntO Hastings, February 13. The liewly-formed Hastings Swimming Club held its first inter-club carnival last evening in tho presenco of a large crowd. The star attraction of tho evening was tho promised attendance of Malcolm Champion and C. Welson, of Auckland, and C. Brice, of AVelliugton. The champion failed to keep his engagement, but the other pair we're on hand, and pleased the public, who greatly enjoyed their line exhibition. The programme was of a comprehensive nature, and was splendidly carried out. The following are the principal results:— . Maiden Handicap, 50yds.—Fitzwilliams (3sec.), 1; AV. Lebas (2sec.), 2.
