In our report of the final of the sixtyfive singles, mention is made that tho prize of a pair of bowls was presented by Mr. Roberts. That gentleman has asked us,to make a slight'correction-as ho is not desirous' of receiving credit which is due to another. The. bowls were in the first rase presented by Messrs. Mar.-kio and Co., the "White Horso Whisky" people, nf Glasgow. The matter of,the disposal of the same, however, was left entirely in tho hands of Mr. Roberts, and if he thought so fit he was to retain same for his own use. Mr. Roberts, however, decided to donate tho bowls as a prize for competition among the veteran members of the Wellington, Thorndon, Newtown, and Victoria Clubs.

A private telegram was received last evening stating that the Wellingtou Club (holders) had won the Duthie Cup. This is a handsome cup presented by Mr. John Duthie, of Wellington, for annual cimpetition between, two_ rinks of the Wellington, Hutt, and Wanganui Clubs, the three clubs of which Mr. Duthie. lias been a member, and in the affairs of which he still retains a warm interest. Tho match is regarded as one of very particular interest by tho clubs concerned, and it must be gratifying to the Wellington Club to have managed to retain the cup for another year.

RIFLE SHOOTING. •HIGHLAND DEFENCE RIFLE CLUB. I-ast Saturday class-firing was carried out, and most of the members were put through. Soino very good shooting resulted, in spite of adverse weather conditions, and tho fact that shooting was carried out under service conditions. At 500 c Vard9 no fewer than seven found the bull s-eye with tho first shot, showing that the use of the aperture sight has not , spoilt men for the uso of the service sights. Tho leading aggregates to date are A Class.—Eves, 596; Sneddon, 58G; Shannon, 534; Spencer, 550; M'Donald, 541. B Class.—M'Glade, 490; Morrison, 464; Hayes, 3D7. To-morrow the club will fire its annual match with tho Petone Rifle Club on tho latter's private range at AVaiwetu, distances 800, 500, and 600 yards, wven shots and a sigliter at each distance. The team will leave. Larabton Station for Lower Hutt at 1.10 p.m. Tho" following will comprise the team:—M'Donald, Shannon, Eves, Sneddon, Spencer, Martin, Cotterill, Conibear, M'Glade, Brooke.
