At (he Dscember sittings of tbo Supremo Court in Wangnnui, Mr. Justice Chapman he;\nl evidence in several circcs (tnkeu toget'her) conccrniiig native lenses for saivinilling purposes. The cases were adjourned to Wellington for legal argument, and this-was heard yesterday. in one of llic actions the parties were Te Peehi To Opetini, plaintiff, and tho Pakiln Sftwniilling Co., Ltd., of Raetilii, defendant. Opetini, according to tho statement of claim,, was part owner in a block of land, known as linetihi 2h3,' and containing 728 i acres. There wore nino owners, and Opetini's interest was 202 acres. An agreement had < been entered into whoreby- tho l'akihi Snwniilling' Co. was to have certain milling rights, and, under this agreement, Opetini claimed -Cifi7 4s.> 7d. as rent duo to September 30, ! 1912, and damages. Ho also claimed a further £29 as rent to October 11, 1912, and asked for possession of the land. The Pakihi Sawmilling Company counterclaimed for ,{M(I0 as dnmnges for wrongful distress on certain plant. •'■ ■■ To-Peehi to • Opotini ■ also proceeded against Harry M'erson and' Clinrlos E. Pederson to recover the sum of ,£I2OO as damages for breaking a pound wherein certain godds were distrained by Opetini. In the alternative, Opetini claimed .£4lO -damages for trespass. ' ; Ripeka To Peehi/and Rawiri Purangi took action against tho'Pakihi Sawm.illing 'Co., also claiming moneys alleged, to "be, duo for'rent and Kipeka To'Peehi brought still another claim, against the company on his own account. .
