Mr. It. Opie, tho champion runner, who hails from Canterbury, is at present on a .holiday visit to Auckland. For three or four months past Mr. Opio has been suffering from heart-strain, and, acting on medical advice, will ijot c6mpete at tho New Zealand championship meeting to bo held this week in, Wellington. Mr. Opio was one of the Now .Zealand representatives at the recent Festival of Einpiro held ill Enfrland. Ho will remain in tho Auckland province for about a month.
