(lressGii'tbe' members of the Charilber' -ol' ' Commerce dii the matter, pointing ont the facilities of the port and tho populous cities which it served. A t yesterday's .meeting of the' Wellington Chamber, the,' chairman . said that they could not but bo impressed, bv what, Mr. Wilson had said,, and ho thought that they should ■ try and do something ill the matter by fostering ..that, trade. The export .trade was fairly, satisfactory, hs most .of our output went to London, but they might try to secure some of tho outward ; trade from, Hull. Of? course, the matter really concerned tho shipping companies, who, now had the t whip hand" owing to ;the demapd for/tonnage all over the world; but |he uiMcrstood that if, say, 1000 tons of cargo were offering for New Zealand at Hull a steamer would pick it up. _ . . • On the motion of Mr. T. Ballinger.it' was resolved that ths Zcalnnd Shippins Company, the Shaw, Savill, and ■Albion Co., and the Tyscr written to, and informed of what Jh.
