PICNICS.
• PUBLIC TRUST OFFICE. , Tho staff of tho Public Trust Office held its fourth annual picnic at Day's Bay on Friday last. The outing proved a most enjoyable one. Sports were held during the' morning, and the afternoon was spent in cricket, swimming, tennis, bowls, etc. Tho results of the sports wero:— 100 yds. handicap—E. W. Lewington, 1; T. Fawcett, 2; A. Miller, 3.

Lunch and afternoon tea were arranged for by the committee, and the catering by the Burlington left nothing (to bo desired.
The committee consisted of: Mrs. Masters, Miss Jack, and Messrs. Egglcstone, Elliffe, King, Myers, Ryan, Poananga, and Tattle (secretary).'
MESSRS. C. AND A". ODLIN. In many ways the Wellington Racing Club's arena is an ideal spot, with its topographical picturesqucness and many conveniences for picnic-purposes, and the 150. people present at the annual outing of the C. and A. Odlin Timber and Hardware Company, Ltd., held there on Saturday, were. unanimous in thedr praise. Meteorologically tho'conditions,were genial for|the outih» and many energetic workers—among whom Mr. Chas. Odlin (senior member ,of tho firm) was übiquitous—saw to tho enjoyment of all. An excellent programme held a good assemblage of spectators. Tho following committee wero in chargo of an altogether capital gathering:—Messrs. Beck, Lucas, Hoddcr, Heron, Smart, Peterson, Lane, and Bridge (secretary)! Tho following are tho results of tho various events:—Boys' race, under B—Auld, 1; Porter, 2; Keys, 3. Standing long jump—Hodder, 1; C. Odlin, 2; Adams, 3. Departmental relay race (teams of four men)— Hardware, 1; Joinery, 2; Carters, 3. Timber yard and office teams also started. Inis was a very interesting item in which ■ths form exhibited by some of tho older runners came as a surprise to thoir younger generation. .'

P. Barber, (chairman' of directors), Mr, T. E. Donne, and all the heads of departments. The comfort of tho picnickers was well attended to, and each child received a toy. as well asian ample supply of fr,uit and confectionery.
