BIENNIAL CONFERENCE.
The biennial conference of the Grand Lodge of Druids (North Island) concluded at Marton at 2 o'clock' on Thursday morning, after a rather strenuous session. The" conference commenced at 3 p.m. on Monday, and sat until midnight. On Tuesday business was resumed nt 9 a.m.,' and, with the exception of time off for meals, the conference sat right on to 1 a.m. on Wednesday;'resumed eight hours later, and sat on until 2 a.m. on Thursday. . Question!! of much pith and moment wero decided. After a long discussion it was dcoided to abolish the old death lovy, and the conl'eronco adopted an insurance scheme whereby the full benefit of, ,£IOO would bo paid in return for a subscription of -CI per annum. . The funds were announced aa being in a satisfactory condition, The Grand Presidont (IJro. Wade), in his address, showed that the funds totalled £31,915 lis 10d., a net increase of .£7141 7s. 9d. This included .£3305 ss. lid. accruing to the investment fund. District presidents may for tba futura be elected from past secretaries. It was resolved that whilst regretting that the necessity had arisen to suspend tho Auckland and Eden Lodges, Grand Lodge, after consideration, resolved to remove tho suspension subject to their recognition of tho authority of Grand Lodge, by complying with the rules and paying all dues. • • .. ... Tho following* executive was elected:— Grand President, Bro. A. Thompson (Auckland); Grand Vice-President, Bro. J. Tennant (Greymouth); Grand Secretary, Bro. N. Grant Wellington) ; Grand Treasurer,.Bro. R. Fletcher (Wellington) ; Grand Guardian, Bro. F. Jennings (Wellington). , Opportunity was taken to present the ex-Grand President (Bro. A. Wade) with a Grand President's collar, by was of appreciation for the services rendered the order during his term of office. Bro. UK. C'ooke, the local secretary, was presented with 1 a gold sovereign case and a hanasome' electro-plated fruit-dish, in recognition of his efforts to make the delegates comfortable during their stay at Marton. It was decided'that the next biennial meeting 'should bo licld at FciLding. ,
