... • ♦ • ' The monthly meeting of . the Hutt River Board was held on Thursday evening, and was attended by Messrs. Baldwin (chairman), ICnight, Welch, and Bowers. • Mr. A. D. Kennedy, who took his seat the first time, was welcomedbytho chairman.' ' . . Mr. Peel (chairman of tho Hazards Land Co.). wrote stating that a visit had been paid to the protective works by the company's .'land, and 1 satisfaction was expressed at the way in which the work was being carried out. The letter suggested certain improvements which would, be paid for by the company, provided' that tho'cost did not exceed £10. The matter was held over. ; Messrs. Bunny and Avson. (solicitors to tho board) forwarded a copy and terms of a proviso in tho transfer agreement between the board 1 and the'Petone Borough Council, in regard to tho ap-' proach to the pipe and traffic bridge. On tho motion of the chairman the. proviso was approved. The overseer reported that the protection works on Haywards land had been oompletcd at a cost of £39 9s. The No. 6 boom groyne, near Silvorstream, was also completed, tho cost being £53 ,Bs. lid. Tho work of repairing protective parts near Havwards is in progress. Tho report was auopted. • The board then . went into oommittso to, consider tho raising of n loan for protective work in tho upper district of the' river. :. • ■
