RACE-BOOKS.
Sir,—ln your footnote to my letter in The Dominion of Monday last, you say my' statements aro not quite in accordance with fact, and that no horse started in the fifth raco other than those- whoso names were printed on tho card. In the fifth raco eight horses were in the book and nine started, tho additional one being Groystonc, 9st. 71b. I will now ask you again you think it fair arid''libitest to the public to start horses whoso names'are not in tho book?, Tho public pav for tho book, which, of course, they Loliovo contains all tho names of horses that will start. Possibly you think it is fair, for you say "through an oversight Dauuton's name was omitted from tho book, but, tho club had no option but to nllow tho horse to start." Emphatically, my view is no horso should bo allowed to start whoso namo does not appear on the card. Tub Dominion has always advocated a fair and 6(ruaro deal to . all classes; therefore your opinion'ro abovo will ba fof much interest, probably to others. I havo now montbned threo instances, now for a fourth: Somo thrco or four years ago Formless started at Foxton, vrliosc namo was not in the book, and paid something lilto ,£25.-1 am, etc., OUTSIDER.
[Obviously tho race-books should be accurate, but an owner who has complied with all tho regulations should surely not be penalised for a mistake in tho printing of a race-book.].
