After discussion a vote of confidence in the Government was carried. M. Etienne, Minister for' War, declared that no Minister conld give an appointment to a man who, after his reinstatement, had insulted his superiors, by conduct which should havo received disciplinary measures. . ■ '
A cable message Inst month stated that French Parliamentary circles, wcro excited over the reinstatement of Colonel du Paty do Clam. M. Millerand, Minister for War, explained to the Cabinet that he took the whole responsibility, ,and tendered his resignation, A later message stated that at a heated meeting of the Calv inet M. Poincaro. threatened resignation. It was believed that not <i single member approved of du Paty do Clam. Ultimately tho resignation of M. Millerand was accepted. ' . i • Du Paty de Clam, it may bo remembered, was rewarded with the rank of colonel for tho nart he took in the<-persecution of Captain Dreyfus. It was alleged that du Paty de Clam and others collaborated in bolstering up the Dreyfus prosecution by every possible means. . ■
