The transport. organisations are planning a strike in the summer, on tho expiry of tho existing agreements. The primary object will be to solve tho problem of unemployment befOro tho next wave of industrial depression by means of an all-round reduction of hours. The 6eamen will claim an increased manning scale ( on all vessels, and the transport ashoro will demand an eight-hourg day. BRITISH MINERS* BALLOT. ' London, February 2. The ballot of the miners at the Northumberland and Durham collieries largely favours a five-days' week. However, it is doubtful if a two-thirds majority will be secured.
