SPECIAL REQUEST CORRESPONDENCE.

The following new postal regulations affecting "special request correspondence" appears in the Gazettethis weelt :— "1. Undelivered inland letters and other articles, except parcels, bearing tho full name and address of tha sender printed or written on the outsido aro returned, direct aud unopened by the Chief Postmasters. Such, articles] having a request on the address side of tho covers of tho following purport: 'If not delivered return to aro disposed of' in the same way. A special request that letters and other articles posted in New Zealand, if not delivered within a stated period, bo re-directed to an address outside New Zealand will not be complied with. Such oorrespondenco will bo sent to the Dead Letter Office in the usual way. Undelivered inland printed matter prepaid Id. bearing a special' request for its return to the sender will bo returned and charged Jd. postage, but if it bears no such request, and is of no intrinsic value it will bo destroyed. Tor tho purposes of this regulation New Zealand includes tho Cook Islands—namely, Rarotonga, Mtingaia, Atiu, Aitutaki, Mitiaro, Mauko (Parry), and Hervcy (Mannae); and also Palmerstoq (Avarua), Niuo (Savago), Pukapuka j(Danger), Rakaanga, Manahiki, Peilthyn' (Tongareva), and buwarrow Islands.
