ICirkcaldie, second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John ICirkcaldie, of Wellington, and Mr. Charlea Hayward Mirams,' of Wellington. Delicately shaded pink sweet" pciis decorated.tho drawing-room, inwhicli tho ceremony took place, the Rev. James .Paterson conducting the service. . Thb bride, who was given -away by her father, wore •&. very graoeful trained gown ;of ivory satin de chine over palest pinkeliarnieuse, the ibodice being draped with -ninon and Brussels. lace.". Her veil of Brussels lace. wns secured 1 with a wreath of. orango blossoms, and eho wore her gift from the bridegroom, a beautiful diamond and Gi>al;:pondant. Her bouquet was of white flowera with- maidenhair foliage.'. : 1 - " Miss Grace ICirkcaldie. (siEter) and Joan 'Kirkcaldie.' the little daughter of, Mr. arid Mrs. S. ICirkcaldie. were' in attendance upon tho bride. . The elder bridesmaid wore a gown of ivory net, with, an .overdress of marquisette lace, relieved with touches* nf-pink, and a white hat'with black'osprey plumes. She carried a bouquet of sliailed pink sweet .peas, and wore her gift from tho 'bridegroom/' a wjitch bracelet. Tho small bridesmaid was in ivory net, tucked, ■. and trimmed-, with blond lace, .'finished with nink rosettes, and a white beaver hat: She, too, wore the bridegroom's gift of a pjarl brooch, and. carrfrd "a nosegav . of .harmonising flowers. 'Mr. ICeith ICirkcaidio was tho best- man. Mrs. ICirkcaldie, the mother of-the bride, wore a gown of black voile over ivory crepe dc'chine,' trimmed.with cream 'and-'black net, and a black and white'hat with osprey plumes.' .iMany -relatives nnd friends -,wero,present- at tho ceremony, and the health of the -.bride' and _ bridegroom was duly honoured in the dining-room, which had been ■baantifully' decorated with white flowers. White satin streamers 'were carried from the wedding cake, which occupied ' the centre of the tablet-to tho four corners, and white flowers and feathery, foliage were the table decorations. Among those present were Mrs. Herbert Kirkcaldie, wearing a tarigerino frock and black hat; Mrs. Rattray (Dunedin) was in cham-pagne-coloured marquisette/embroidered with black and white, and hat with shaded -plumesto match; Miss V. ICirkcajdie (Sydney), cream charmeuso satin, veiled with ninon and-.a" wide cream hat';- Mrs. Sydney Kirkcaldie, white crepe de chine, trimmed With Brussels lace and Oriental embroidery, and overdress of black ninon. Her wide black velvet hat. was relieved with white ospreys. I: A Gisborna Wedding. ~ In St. George's Church, Pahiatua, near Gisborne, the wedding took place on Wednesday :of Sliss Hilda Sherratt, , second daughter of -Mr. Richard Sherratt, and Mr., William Alexander Couper, of Havelock North, Hawke's Bay. The Rev. H. T. Rawnsley conduoted' the service, a 'large gathering of friends and relatives being present in the church. Tho bride, who was given away by her father, wore a gown of white satin, trimmed with point lace and pearl embroideries, with a tullb veil and wreath of orange-blossoms. She carried a bouquet of white flowers and maidenhair fern. Tho bridesmaids were Miss ICato Sherratt (sister) and - Miss Grace Couper (sister of tho bridegroom), both of wuom wero in froeks of blue satin, with tunics of lace over ninon, and large straw hats, trimmed ■ with black roses and osprey plumes. They carried 'pretty slioiyor bouquets. Mr. P. Sherratt was the best man, and Mr. E, Johnson the groomsman. A largo number of guests were afterwards entertained at "Swarthmoor,". the residence of Mr. and Mrs. .Sherratt. 7 >

Dear Mrs. Hullon,— For years I was tortured with superfluous hair on my face, mid feared I should never rid myself of tho distressing disfigurement. A.Carnarvon Wedding. • The Rev. W. It. Hutchison, who lias just been appointed to tho charge of the -Maraekakaho district, was married to Miss Helen M'JCenzie,' of Carnarvon, on Thursday. Owing to tho recent death of the bride's grandfather, the Hon. John Bryce, the wedding was a yuiet one, only the near relatives of the family lwing present. A large number of presents was received, including n gilt from tho members of the Presbyterian Church and the children of tho Sunday School at Carnarvcn,, wliero tho bride . had been organist and teachei for some years. The Rev. Mr. Hutchison was formerly a member of tho Union Bank staff in Phlmerston, afterwards joining the Presbyterian ministry, and being stationed at Tokomaru. Mrs. J. R. Selwyn's Bereavement. The widow of the late Bishop J. R. Sclwjn, some time Bishop of Melanesia, and eon of the famous George Augustus Selwyn, Bishop of New Zealand, has suffered another' terrible bereavement this Cliristmastide (writes a correspondent of December 21).' Her only 6on, George, a fine young follow, 17 years of age, who had just left Eton to spend tho vacation with his mother at Cambridge,.' was cf|t riding a motor bicycle" in that town on Saturday afternoon, when, at tho croSs- . roads near St.. Giles's. Church, he ran full-tilt iuto a motor-'bus,, and fell'right in the track of the off-side wheels, both of which passed over the lower 1 part of his body. Hiß injuries were of such a nature that there was not the slightest chance of his life; being saved.
