In explanation of tho finding of a ship's buoy and hatch on tho West Coast, tho buoy bearing tho names "Ulimaroa and "Laira," it is explained that tho Ilud-dart-Parker Company purchased tho Laira for a hulk, and that probably tho barquo'u buoys wcro removed to tho steamer. ProsumaMy the buoy and hatch belonged to tho Ulimaroa and woro washed overboard during heavy weather in tho Tasman Sea on tho last voyage from Sydney to Wellington. MATRICULATION EXAMINATIONS. , Auckland, January 31. The results of tho matriculation examinations will bo issued by tho University Senate in a fortnight's timo, showing tho result of each candidato in each subject. To those candidates allowed to compete in tho examination by taking ono subject only, special instruction will l>o given, and the subject to bo passed distinctly indicated. CARGO PILLAGfNG. Auckland, January 31. A loan of .£50,000 has been raised by the Auckland and Suburban Drainage Board at >694, the rate of interest being •15 per cent. AUCKLAND'S BUTTER OUTPUT. . Auckland, January 31. The Customs returns show a phenomenal export of butter during the month. The estimated value of the butter shipped in this period is .£222,864.
