' The Registrar's report for tho month of January, .1913, shows that the number of births was ;ICI, a decrease of 23 as compared with the returns for tho corresponding month.in 1912, when the number of births was 187. Deaths show an increase of one, the deaths in January, 1912, being- C 9, whilo the deaths during last nionth numbered 70. There has been a decrease in marriages also. : During January, 1912, ninety marriages were celebrated in' various churches, and 21 at the Registrar's office. During January, 1913, • eighty-two marriages were oelebrated at churches, and fifteen beforo tho Registrar, thus making a decrease of eight and nine marriages respectively.
