MARTON A. & P. SHOW.
■ Tho newly-constituted, Marton District Agricultural and Pastoral ' Society will hold their first show on February 13, and it is hoped that the Prime Minister and Minister tor Agriculture' (the Hon. AV. F. Massey) will open the show.. Mr. Newman, M.P., has received a promise' from the Eon. Mr. Massey to do'his best to be present. The completion of the Main Trunk line to Auckland has., made Marton „ Junction' a prominent railway centre, and it was felt that, ..seeing that Marton wns also tho centre, of a very prosperous pnstoral and agricultural district in tho r North Island, in which \the small farmer as well as the large'farmer had an equal stake—that the numerous requests for the establishment of a local agricultural and 'pastoral show could'no longer be ignored. Its membership is well on towards 500 already. _ Liberal, gifts of special prizes and donations have been made, and the'.society has no doubts as to its financial success.: Mr. B. Newman, M.P.,' has (amongst numerous.other donors) given n challenge cud as a points, prize in crossbred dairy classes. The following judges have agreed to act for the show:—Horses (draught). H. E. Hocken'; oattle (Ayrshires). J. AY.-, G. Slack, Palmerston North; cattle (Polled Angus), K. AY. Dnlrymple, Bulls; cattle (Herefords).'J. AY. fituckev, Mnngaweka; cattle (Shorthorns), Ewen Campbell, AVansranui; sheep (Romneys),: R. -Tanner,' Longbnrn; remaining classes other judges;
