An amendment of the Hospitals and Charitable Institutions Act was advocated by a deputation from tho Waimato Workers' Union, which was introduced to'the Hon. A. L. Hcrdman yesterday' by Mr. A. H. Hindmnrsh, M.P. Mr. S. Boreham was tho principal spokesman. He stated that an amendment of tho Act was desired, making it illegal for tho medical superintendent of a public hospital to own and control a privato hospital. Statements w'ero' made about a libel'action which, it was said, had arisen over the exclusion of:a member of the Waimato Workers' Union from tho Wa.imnte Public Hospital. Members of the deputation stated that they did not wish to grumble at tho decision of the court iirlho libel action, but had appronched the Minister with a view to securing the protection of the public. Mr. Herdman promised to obtain copies of the papers containing tho report of tho libel action, nr.d'to look into the question raised by tho deputation,
