PERSONAL ITEMS.

The Hon. W. F. Massey is at Taupo, and the Hon. AY. Fraser at Alexandra South. Tho Hon. P. M. B. Fisher will return to-night from Blenheim. Thp other Cabinet Ministors are in town.

I'ho Hon. W. Fraser, who is at present travelling in Otago with a. Pariinmcntary partj', left Duncdin yesterday morning for Alexandria. The party will go to-day to Pembroke and remain there until Monday morning. On Monday tho party will bo at Cromwell, and on Tuesday'night at Roxburgh. A return will bo made to Duncdin on Wednesday night. Mr. Fraser will leave Duncdin for Wellington on January 31 or February 1. Within a week or so afterwards Mr. Fraser will pay another brief visit to Otago in order to deal with Departmental matters that will claim Ins attention in tho southern part of his own electorate, in the Catling district, and at Invcrcargill.

The Hon. J. A. Tole, K.C., has, been reappointed by the Senate of the University to be its representative on 'the Board of Governors of tho Auckland Graniinnr School.

Mr. T. Harlo Giles (Conciliation Commissioner) left Auckland for Waiki on Tuesday to preside over tho conference being; held thero between tho Ohinemuri Mines and Batteries Industrial Union of Workers and the mine owners, for the purpose of arriving at on agreement.

. Mr. J. E. Foster, of Wellington, leaves by the Athcnic for London to-day. Mr. C. J. Palmer will bo a passenger by the same vessel.' ■

The Rev. H. J. Deane, vicar of l'atea, has resigned on account of ill-health, and proposes to make an extended visit to England. The E«v. 0. M. Stent, vicar of Haetihi, has accepted tho vacancy.

Tho appointment;of Mr. Thomas Fox, of. Christchurch, as engineer ,for tho Miramar Borough, was announced at the council meeting last evening. Mr. Fox takes up duty on February 1.

Mr- J. Campbell, Government architect, who lately paid a holiday visit to the Auckland district, returned to Wellington a day or two ago.

Dr. Reid left Wellington for the south by the Mararoa last evening, .

Messrs. M'Cormack,.Scott, and Gray, of the South Melbourne touring cricket team, left by the. express'last evening for Rotorua. They catoh the Maheno for Sydney at, Auckland on Monday. Tho'remainder of the team leave Wellington'by the Sydneyboat; to-day. '.

Mr. Robert Aitken, who for th« past 23 years has been a member of,' the Napier staff of the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, and latterly holding the position of accountant, has been appointed to take charge of the Feilding agency of the Company. Mr.; M. G. Watson, accountant at the Oamarii branch, succeeds, Mr. Aitken as accountant at Napier.- , '■ •■ .
