Tho outbreak originated in a joinery shop above the engine-house, and spread with N extreme rapidity: ' Tho brigade was promptly on. the sceno of tho conflagration, which was'then two Hires -in extent, Though hampered by tho lntenso heat tho brigade succeeded in saving the wooden'houses which thickly surrounded tho yards on all sides. • ThTevos, on tho pretence of assisting, robbed a number of.residences. Flalman's property was partially insured, One estimate places the loss at .030,000, another at .6120,000.
