ORDER OF RECHABITES.
In response,;to «n application received from Granity,-Past District ''Chief Ruler J. M. Calder, of Nelson, journeyed to the \VMt Coast recently to institute a now branch of the -Or<for. He was accompanied by Mrs. Colder, and they wero the guests ol' tho Rev. Mr. Heron at the Vicarage, the Rev.' Mw-Heron being ono of the Charter members. At the preliminary gathering, 17 candidates were instructed by the instituting officer in tho symbols and usages, and admitted into the Order, r This is the first .branch of the Rechabite Order opened on tho West Coast. After the ceremony, a gathering of Granity residents assembled 'in ' the School hall • to hear :an address by the P.D.C.R, A programme of 20 items was also given. ' ■ : •' ■! ; /<
