In addition to' the five Ayrshire bulls reported yesterday as-being on board the steamer Matatua, which is duo from Loudon v on February 10, tho vessel is also bringing two Jersey bulls and threo heifers for Mr. J."'R. Corrigan, of Hawera. Particulars of the breeding of Mr. Corrigan's purchases wero published in this oclumn recently. A Home paper, referring to Mr.-Corrigan's stock, says:— "A better consignment of Jersey cattlo for butter-fat production hn9 probably never left this country-than the consignment of two bulls and three heifers which went out by the s.s. Matatua for Mr. J. R... Corrigan,. who has been in England,. for six months trying to -procure ,the .very best butter-producing strain of Jersey. cattle, and, according to reliable English judges, ho, made an excellent selection, and tho consignment, in time, will without doubt help, to improve the dairy herds of New Zealand. On both sire and dam , side every animal is full of tho best strains of butter-fat producers there are in' Great Britain."
.Reports just to hand announce the purchase in England by Mr. George Gould, of Canterbury, of six young Guernseysfour heifers-and two rising yearling bulls. Three of tho heifers are said to be in calf to high-bred bulls, whilst tho bulls are-both out of cows which havo yearly, records'for over. 1000 gallons of fivo per cent. milk. One of tho heifers is of tho Golden Cherry lino, which is famous in tho show ring and performance tests. Tho animals are .from tho herds of Sir Everard Hambro and ] Mr. F. P. Carlow.
