In the Magistrate's Court yesterday Thomas Turncy was fined £5 on a charge of his having cruelly ill-treated a dog in docking its tail. Sub-Inspector Sheehan slated that the defendant had essayed to dock -the tail of a pup three months old. Ho hod used a rusty knife. " , GUILTY OF FOUR THEFTS. Hugo Seewald pleaded guilty to charges of the theft of a bicycle, valued at ,£B, belonging to Percy Fredric; a bicycle (.£7) belonging to Harry Henderson j on overcoat {£3 10s.) from Joseph Philip Whatman; and an overcoat and umbrella (£2 55.) bolonging to Fred Carter. Seewald was remanded till to-day for sentence. . • '. . ■ SUSPECTED OF DESERTION." ' Patrick Gallagher was charged with having deserted from H.M.S. Fantome, at Sydney, in May last.
