Ho added that even in 'New Zealand it was. surprising how many horses had won distance handicaps carrying 9st. 'or' more. This prompted the writer to refer to the records, and mention is -here made'. of several horses that have carried'9st. or more to victory over twelvo. furlongs. Tho list is submitted for tho satisfaction of-those who apparently imagine that it is impossible for a horse, to win with a. big impost. At tho Now Zealand Cup meeting in 1912, in the Metropolitan Handicap, onoi mile and a half,' Bobrikoff, 9st. lib., deadheated with Goldfinder, 7st. 81b... the latter subsequently Winning the Canterbury Cup, two miles and a .quarter, carrying 9st. slb.
