THE FEDERATION CONFERENCE. ( "To.out Massey and his crowd at next election" 1b said ty' bo -th© reason for tho holding of, th© conference of unions which has recently been colled by tho ledora-. tion of Labour. Tho "Reds" cannot forget Waihi, and naturally enough they' feci vengeful. This was tho statement mado to a Dominion'reporter yesterday by a Labourite who knows a. little about tho ' business to dome beforo tho conference,It is expected that there will be about 80 delegates at the meeting, which is to bo held on January 21, and about CO unions . have signified their intention .of being represented.' The conference has given rise to a little disunion in tho United Labour party. Tho Wellington Trades Council, which constituted itself tho Central Council of the Wellington branch of tho United Labour party, doos not approve.of tho Federation of Labour, wherclop it passed , a resolution calling upon Arbitration unions not to go' to the conference. It was even suggested that any union that was represented at it would bo guilty of an act of disloyalty. On tho other hand, the •Christcburcu, branch of tho.. United ' Labour', party, called upon affiliated unions to attend the conference. So that there is a split in tho section of the Labour party which calls itself "United," for tho talo of unions' which ar© to 6ond ■ delegates is a fairly .large one. ■..
