A violent gale and heavy enow in th< North of England.have interrupted telegraphs and railways. There are snowdrifts many feot deep. A blizzard in the South of Scotland was tho worst for years. Work had to b< suspended at tho shipyards. A Dutch schooner was wrecked at Carnoustie, on the east coast of Scotland Tho crew of 6ix were gradually swepl away. The captain lashed himself to th< rigging, and was rescued after twelv< hours. Steamers were wrecked at Yarmoutt and Blyth, tho crews being saved aftoi terrible experiences. • Many small craft are ashore. The los! of life is serious. There have been floods in Glamorgan Wales, and South Tipperary; Forty acres of bog , near Castlereagh Ireland, slipped. It threatens the ham lot. ■ ■:. ' ; ...'. \ During a hurricane in the South o Ireland, several houses were blown dowt at CJneenstown. ■ Of thirty-two football (Association) 1 Cu] ties, eight wore not played and eigh were abandoned owing to the bad weathe on Saturday. The Danish steamer G. Koch, 1830 tons was vrrecked at Girdle Ness, on the ©as coast of Scotland, and 6ovea men. werdrowned.. Twelve were Tescued., EXPRESS SNOWED UP ALL NIGHT. (Bee. January U. 0.40 a.m.) London, January 13. The London express from ' Whitehavei ran into a. huge drift near Bootle, ani was snowed up all night.
