Dean Harper has handed in his resignation. to the Anglican Bishop of ,Christ-' church (Dr.' Julius)' to take effect an from April 10' next. 111-health is given as tho I'easoh, , . ' Dean Harper is the fourteenth child of the late Bishop Harper and was bora in Berkshire, England, in 1818. His first appointment in Canterbury was to the curacy of Ellesmero which ho held till .1882 when ha became incumbent of St. Michael's, Christchurch. He administered tho parish for eleven years until '3803,. when lie was appointed. Canon, of Christchurch Cathedral, head'of 'tho Theological Department of Christ's College,-Prinoipal of Co!k-go House, and sub-Dean of the Cathedral. In November, 1901, some time after; tho death of Dean Jacobs, ho was appointed' Dean of Christolmrch, and installed as such on December 16, 1901.
