Gal-late;-who was elected president .of tho branch; being in tho chair. There was also present at tho meeting nn official organiser of the society, M. flavitchanos, who oxplainod tho object of his mission, "Tho sooioty," ho said, "is a patriotic one, tlio object of which is to 6ecure tho emancipation from the yoko of the Turk of the largo portion of tho ancient Grecian Empire, which is at present held in, bondage. Tho present Greek Kingdom, bounded on tho north by tho Olympic Mountains, on tho south by tho Sea of Creto, on tho west by tho Adriatic Sea, and on tho dast by the Aegean Sea, is only one small corner of the Greeco of old, and it is tho object of the Hellenisiuos to unito it to Epiriis, i Macedonia, Thiaki, Asia Minor, and tho Archipelago of tho Aegean Scae It has appealed to t the people for sympathy and c assistance in this work, in the nnmo of ( humanity and universal progress and i prosperity,.and'tho n'ppoal has not been in vain.
