4 ABOLITION OF AFTERNOON SHIFTS. By Telegraph—Pros Association-Copyright Sydney, January 6. There is 60rions unrest amongst the coal! miners in the Maitland district over tho question of tho abolition of tho afternoon shift, which they favour. Ignoring tho advice ,of their loadora, the men havo called an aggregate meeting for to-day to discuss tho matter. Though a strike is not anticipated, it is expected tho meeting will adopt a resolution fixing a dalo whereon f o demand the abolition of tho shift.
