AN APPRECIATION FROM INDIA.
INDUSTRIAL .SUCCESS.' • A secretaire and chair made entirely of New Zealand woods haye just been manufactured by Messrs. ,W. Strange and Co., Ltd., in their furniture factory, in execution of an order received from a gentleman resident in Bombay, and may be seen until Thursday in the window of the Sinis Hardware Co., 226 Lambton Quay. The -bureau is a veritable work of art, the finish and workmanship being as perfect as human skill can make them. The surface is of hiphly polished totara knot veneered on to figured rimu, while the inside linings are of kauri. The secretaire >is of ample proportions, with large roomy drawers and convenient fittings and handsome Astragal doors of glass and wood, and is specially built to withstand the extreme heat of the Indian climate. The family monogram and motto of tho owner's house is beautifully inlaid and engraved upon the folding table of the desk! A handsome rotary desk-chnir to match> comfortably upholstered in green leather, completes the order, which is ii credit not only to Messrs. Strange, and Co., but to New Zealand art and manufacture. The suite will be shipped to India this week, where it will doubtless convey an impression of New Zealand indusl-vy which will be highly creditable to our Dominion. The Wellmrton branch of Messrs. Strange and Co., Ltd.. is at 22(i Lambton Quay, where samples of carpets, nigs, .linoleums, fur. .•iji.ure, etc., are on view.—Advfc
