BOWLS.

WELLINGTON CENTRE'S - TOURNA- ' MENT.

; Thanks to a fortnight's fine weather, the city and suburban greens will 'be in excellent trim for the Wellington Bowling Centre's .tournament, which commences on ail the city greens at 9 a.m. to-morrow. Sixty rinks have entered. They.'have been divided into six sections of ten rinks each, and in the division it has been arranged that there are -no "weak" .sections, which is a much better idea than drawing them promiscuously, as experience has proved that it is not always a difficult .matter to select the winners of a,section before play commences. On this occasion it' is difficult to say which rink will win any. of the six sections.

Previous winners l of Wellington Centre tournaments are as follow 1009: Newtown—A, Pollock, Sexton, 4 Wylie,' G. Prince (s.). 1910: Newtown—Warwick, Duff, A. Pollock,. W. Wyb'e (s.). 1911: Kelburne—Hamerston, M'Coll, Duguid, Williamson (s,). 1912: -Wellington—urenfell, Focke, Thompson, Webb (s.).

One of the conditions of the tournament is that'no changing of , players will be allowed, except in case of sickness or enforced absence, in which, case si substitute may be . appointed by or subject to tho approval of the Match Committee of the centre. Umpires on .greens are requested to' let the secretary nave the results of each round as soon after their competition as possible.
