ANNUAL CONVENTION. The seventeenth annual, conventionof the New . Zealand'section of the The'osophioal Society was opened in the Wellington Lodge rooms in Ballance Street yesterday, and will be continued to-day. There wis a large and representative .gathering of ' delegates' and visitors from the various ■lodges of,the section. The report :of the general secretary, Dr. '.Sanders, states that tho society "is steadily ; growing.in New Zealand. Public lectures show an increase;! attendanco all round, while the demand for literature and information oi) the .aims and ideals of the! society, is niost'marked. The work of the society . is' greatly augmented; by tho: devotion and energy of its two sectional lecturers,. Miss Christie and Miss Home,Tho numerous activities of the society aro ' iii a flourishing condition, the Order of the Star in the East especially making headway in Now Zealand. ! > VThc business of the'/ convention will occupy torinorrow, and conferences, of the .■subsidiary activities of the society occupy tlie .r'emaiTicler of tiny week. Among these :are: the Round Table for the 1 , help and 'training of- the young, 'people, and. tho T.S. Order of-Service, the object of which Ms tho. promotion, of the spirit .of service in those having for : their aim tlio alleviation of suffering and the up.liftment of humanity.
