TECHNICAL SCHOOL.

NEW INSTRUCTORS APPOINTED, FINANCES SATISFACTORY. A special meeting of Hie Wellington Technical School Board was- held last night. There wore present: Messrs. D,' Robertson (chairman.), W. H. Field, Gv Frost, and W. Allan. The director of t'ho' school, Mr. W. S. La Trobo, reported that the funds ii sight wero as against XI4SB last' year. It was remarkod by. the ohairmaa that tlio fifiAnc'es of tho 6chool we're in a> very satisfactory condition. The following statement shows- how tho approximate financial position on February 1, 1912, and--1913, has been ascertained:— 1912. 1913.- . Less grants unexpended ... 150 160 Debit balance — ... 88 Totals *01,488 ; Referring to the Mac&rthy Trust tho chairman urged that somo action should he taken to got as' much of . the money for the board as possible. Their case was one of the most deserving in. Wellington that ho knew of, for the school' was' being? run under v6ry groat disadvantages. They' must have a new building very soon, andhe ivas sure that if Mr. Macarthy wers hero he would have at once seen the justice of their claim. . ' , .. t Finally a committee of the whole board ,was set .up to take such action as might be deemed necessary. • ' , Eighteen applications wero .received for the position of mathematical master, at S salary of. 4275 per year. Mr. R. H. B/Ockel, M.A., at present octing-head-master of the Timaru Boys'-High School, was finally appointed.
