Peacock, chairman of the Australian ais New Zealand National Committee of the Y.M.C.A;, in an interview here, referred to the National Convention of the New.Zealand Y.M.C.A., to be held at Sumner Worn January 2 to G. and stated it would be the' first of its kind held in New Zealand, arid would be attended by about 50 . delegates, representing, associations in the Dominion from Auckland to Ihvercargill. It was. hoped, that the result of tlie convention would be to standardise the work of the association, and to deal with some of th</ problems which recent developments have evolved; . Amongst other matters to be discussed will bo the relation of the associations to the Churches, the co-opeijatioh of associations with .thd Churches iin Christian sociological work,- and tho question of getting in. touch with male members of the community' from boyhood upwards. ; Referring to .work, Mr. Peacock mentioned the fact that in America it is done by trained. men, who rank as professional men,- and the nature of the work demanded that it should be entrusted ouly to.highly skilled men. It is hoped to extend theexistingsystem wherebr communication is maintained with men in the country districts interested in Y'.M.C.A. work, and Also to extend the activities of the Y.sf-C.A. to defence camps and 1 defense matters. Professor Pioken. of Wellington, will be the president of tie convention, and Mr. Peacocks who will attend ex-officio, will give the openingaddTess.
