CHRISTCHURCH MATTERS.
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) Christchurch, December 23. The City Council .to-night gave authority for preliminary steps to be taken respecting the raising of tho loan of ,£120,000 in connection with tho Lake Coleridge electrical scheme. The Board of Governors of Canterbury College lias decided to establish a course in architecture, provided satisfactory arrangements can be made. The board has also decided in connection with the Public Library that in order to place the institution on a satisfactory basis, tho whole stall 1m given three month's' notice, with tho right to apply for future positions, and that applications bo called for tho position of chief librarian, at a salary of .£3OO. Tho Hospital Board has decided to make temporary arrangements for tho dental ward. Following upon the overcrowding of His Majesty's Theatre on Sunday night, on the occasion of the municipal organ necital, one of the city inspectors to-day laid an information against the Mayor, councillors, and citizens for a breach of- the municipal by-laws.
