Y.W.C.A. Notes.
The services held at the Y.W.C.A, Kooms in Manners Street were exceedingly well attended 011 Sunday, over one hundred persons being present. Tho Rev. J. J. North gav<« a Christmas message, and Christmas carols were sung under the leadership of Mr. F. Billman. Late in the afternoon, contrary to the usual custom of the members of the board of management entertaining the members of the Y.W.C.A. at a tea, the members of the association entertained, upon this occasion, the board of mauagoment, and a particularly pleasant and cordial gathering resulted. Tho tables had been very prettily decorated with coreopsis, and everything for tho tea had been made by the girls, showing that the reproach of want of knowledge of the home life' and its neads cannot be levelled at them. .A brief speech was made by one of > tlie girls of the association expressive of the appreciation, which they all felt for the work, that was done by the committee and the secretary, and she spoko (pathetically of the loneliness and.sadness that seized upon girls when they first arrived in tho. Dominioil from England. To the geniality of the secretary, and the cordiality of tho girl members, who greeted them, ; they owed the courage with-which they faced life ill a strange country, - . Mrs. ' Webster (president of. the Y.W.C.A.) and Mrs. J. P. Luke also made brief speeches. „ i, Last evening the members of the Y.W.C.A. gave a Christmas evening- at. the Sailors Mission. An excellent programme of Christmas carols was provided, by tho Lyric Club, under the leadership of Mr. F. Billman, and a brief speech was made by one oi the girls exhorting the seamen to keep a corner of remembrance in their hearts for their mothers, and the old home ties. The Young Women's Christian Association was heartily cheered by tho audience at tho conelusion of the programme.
