This includes Frahois Chiton, the. monopede artist, and the Eight Grolosqueo Hie cJnssical comedy company. THE WVf THEATRE. Tho programme of tho Now Theatre continuous pictures, shown for the last time on Saturday, attracted large attendances. The new series to-day will be headed by "Between Life and Death" (a powerful "feature-" drama). The supporting items will include "Church an.l Stage" (Hcpvix dramn), "liiiml Sharks v. Sea Mogs" (Selig comedy drama), "Broncho Billy's Christmas Dinner" (S. and A. drama), and "Juggins's Motor Skates." The special programme for Christmas Day will embrace "Though Your Sins bo as Scarlet," "Tho Deluge," "Life of Moses," "Hobiirt," "Birth .of Christ," and "The Battle" (A.B. drama). KING'S THEATRE. One is seldom disappointed at tho attractions th-e King's Theatre has to offer, and the last week's programme proved no exception. The piece tie resistance -was undoubtedly tlis dramatic film "Sakarct in the Golden Cage." This week 'the public are to bo treated to two star items, one entitled "Falsely Accused," being favoured with the fascinating actress Asia Noilssn, ought in itself to prove, a great hit. Appropriate for the Christmas season is also the fairy extravaganza "Cinderella," which ought to delight the hearts of the , many children who jialroniso this popular house. SHORTTS' THEATRE. Saturday's attendances at the continuous picture. show at Shortts' Theatre in Willis Street were well up to tiis average. The special subjects screened for the children on Saturday afternoon proved interesting. To-day a grand change of programme will take place, when tho till will be headed by a powerful Nordisk drama "Black Blood." Other item? are: "Ship's Husband," an Edison drama; "Tommy's Sister," a Vitagnpji comedy; "Hustled Wedding," a Hepwix comedy; and "Snowfall, Mount Victoria," a scenic item of merit. THE EMPRESS THEATRE. . The Empress Theatre continuous pictures wore patronised by throngs throughout Saturday, when the current programme was" displayed for the last time. "The Arrival 'of the New Governor at Wellington," which was introduced on Saturday will be repeated throughout today with a. new programme headed by "Too Late," a romantic story of Richelieu, whose career was much associated with romantic and tragic incidents, and with court intrigues. "Too Late is thoroughly characteristic of Richelieu, and tho Court of the time. Other subjects will include: "Church and Stage (a beautiful modern drama), "Her Awakening (a powerful domestic drama), Williams Wceklv" (topical), and a number of comedies'. "The management announces a special programme to bo shown on Christmas Day from 2 p.m. till 11 p.m. It will include an elaborate enactment ot the life .of St. Francis of Assist.' . PEOPLE'S PICTURE PALACE.
• The Management of the People's Picture Palace announce a special programme to bo screened for the first time to-day. "The Race for Life" or "Rose Kate will bo one of the feature films. The Kalcm Company's picturc, "Missionaries in Darkest Africa" should also prove an attractive item. "The Renegades," a Lnbiu drama, tails tlie tale of a devoted wilt, and her tribulations out West. On Christmas Day Hie special item will, bo Ihe Fall of Troy," representing one ox the most renowned sieges in history. TRAMWAYS BAND CONCERT. A lar"0 audience attended the concert given bv the Tramways Band in the King's Theatre last evening-. On its performance last evening the hand, under the capable conduotw-hir. o, . - Goodall, showed excellent form, notably in its treatment of the selection from Mozart's old opera, "The Magic l'lute, which work is being revived this coining season at the Metropolitan Opera Honso in New York. Other items onftho programme were the marches, "Palmer House" (Tettee) and "The Entry of the. Gladiators" (Fucik), and "Carresante' (Lambert). Mr. P. L. Mirnfie a gift for facile fingering in the piccolo solo "Badinftgo," and Mr. Potter sang a couple of solos in good stylo. BARTON BROS.'S CIRCUS. This big circus enterprise* will arrive by special train early this morning, and will commence the Christmas carnival season to-night near Te Aro Railway Station. There is some peculiar fascination about a circus that appeals, and it is said of tho Barton firm that they appear to have the acumen of knowin" all requirements. The firm claim to° have brought together tho greatest number of artists and the largest number of horses and ponies that has yet appeared under one management in this hemisphere. In continuance of a policy adopted by them some years, ago, it is customary to travel this Dominion for eight months in tho year. The other four months aro spent in winter quarters. This enables the firm to rest their animals and tho staff. In the interim, one of the senior members tours abroad in search of new features. During a receivi visit overseas, Mr. F. .T. Barton brought back with him 'a number of Continental star performers. The programme is said to bo a splendid one. Sensational features, interspersed with an element if laughter and amazement, run right through it. Admission prices are Is. and 25., chairs 35., children, lialf-prico. A rare collection of wild beasts will be on exhibition free at 7 p.m. E>ich evening Barton's military band will render ;t selected programme on the exterior of the tent prior to tho performance.
