MAPOURIKA STILL IN NELSON.
FIREMAN BEFORE THE COURT. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) Nelson, December 20. After being delayed at Nelson Wharf sinco yesterday at 3 p.m. tlio Union Company's coastal steamer Mapourika is timed to sail for Westport at 6 a.m. tomorrow. It is understood that he IV teena is bringing two firemen from Wellington to complete the vessel's stokehold crew. The fireman Entwistto, whose refusal to work yesterday caused the firemen to hold tlio boat up, was before the Court this aftornoon, charged with wilfully disobeying the captain's orders; failing without reasonable cause to join his ship; and beine absont from his ship without lawful excuse. On the first charge the accused was fined ,£2, in default 20 diimprisonment; the second cliargo was dismissed owing to a fault in the information; and on the third clia'rgo accused was sentenced to seven days' imprisonment, and ordered to forfeit two days' pay. In connection with the troublo with firemen on board tlio Mapourika at Nelson, the Union Company sent three men across to Nelson from Wellington by the Pateena yesterday. It was expected that the Mapourika would leave for Westport at G a.m. to-day. On account of being so much behind time, it has been decided that the vessol will only go as far as Westport this trip.
