MUNICIPAL LEAGUE.
COUNCIL'S ASSISTANCE SOUGHT. ■ When seen yesterday by a DomisioS representative, the Mayor (Mr, W M'Laren) said that lio had received a.coinraunication from tho secretary of the Union of Canadian Municipalities, asking the Wellington City Council s co-oper-ation. in a uicvemont that is taking plaoa for the establishment of an International Municipal League. "Tho work, stated the Mayor, "has been taken up by tha municipal associations of Aiuonca, ada,. and Great Britain, Amongst other bodies that are taking part.wit are tha London County Counoif, the .Assocwt. on of Scottish Boroughs, and the African Municipal Association. "I intend to take steps to, submit the proposal to my council here, and I will also deal with tho matter as president of tlio Municipal Assomtai of New Zeahind I think tlio establishment of such an international body dealing with cms matters is a step forward, and New Zealand as well as other countries should ba represented in the movement._ Tho Major concluded by saying that he walel do nil he could to endeavour to get the New Zealand cities to co-operate in the move, ment. ■
