PRISONER AT LARGE.
ESCAPES FROM HOSPITAL. Poter Young, a prisoner, who had been sent from the Terrace Gaol to the Wellington Hospital for treatment, escaped from the latter institution at 4.45 p.m., yesterday, and rt a late hour last night was still at large, with & number of policemen anxiously looking for him. , Young, who has not long been out from Scotland, pleaded guilty recently to a charm of breaking, enuring, and theft at Hastings. 'On DeceniW 7 he appeared ut Wellington for sentence. On that occasion Mr. H. H. Ostler, Crown Prosecutor, reported that Young had been proved (by the finger-print syatcrn) to la identical with Ilenry Thompson, who had been -sentenced to three months' imprisonment at Christehurch in June, lflll, for being idle and disorderly. Mr. Justice Sim imposed -a sentcnc® of fix months* imprisonment with hard labour, and ordered that prisoner bo afterwards detained for reformative treatment for a period not exceeding three month?. Sinco ho entered the gaol, it was found that Young was suffering from a complaint which made an operation durable, and for this reason ho wa sent to the Hospital, whence ho escaped. Hs is said to have been seen in Adelaide Road shortly after ha was rnisec-d.
